Test specimens following ASTM D638 standards are frequently used to measure the tensile properties of reinforced and unreinforced polymers machined with traditional machining and emerging manufacturing methods (additive manufacturing/3D printing). However, designs of large engineering structures may rely on mechanical properties based on ASTM D3039 for fiber-reinforced polymer composites. This parametric study examines the scaling effects present in uniaxial tensile test specimens of molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE), with geometries ranging from Types I to IV of ASTM D638 to ASTM D3039. HDPE is a thermoplastic polymer that is recyclable, can be 3D-printed, and has a wide range of engineering applications, from bottles to pipes to radiation protection shielding. The mechanical properties test results for the molded HDPE samples are validated using a Monte Carlo simulation to estimate uncertainties for the probability distribution of maximum stress at the yield point. A Finite Element study based on the empirical model shows how the proposed approach can be adopted for design purposes. The results of this work are a useful tool to enhance confidence in the tensile mechanical properties of ASTM D638 Types II and IV geometries as statistically similar to those of ASTM D3039 samples, impacting engineering designs with traditional and emerging manufacturing methods.  相似文献

石油和天然气行业不断关注增材制造技术在航空航天和汽车行业的应用发展。研发了利用增材制造技术的超高膨胀封隔器,该封隔器的支承环系统由增材制造。增材制造设计大幅减少了支承系统的构件数量,同时显著提高了膨胀能力和额定压力。密封元件系统与增材制造支承环安装在一起,提供了极端膨胀比、零挤压间隙和对不规则孔的良好适应性。分析和测试结果表明:直径膨胀比高达111%,与常规封隔器相比,提高50%以上; 至少涵盖5种线重的套管(外径相同); 在148.89 ℃的温度下,密封元件能够保持压力68.95 MPa。介绍了增材制造技术、增材制造支承环概念、增材制造材料力学性能、密封元件系统优化和测试情况,以期给我国的完井作业提供借鉴。  相似文献

研究多功能橡胶硫化活性剂ZH-73对子午线轮胎胎面胶硫化特性、加工性能、物理性能和动态力学性能等的影响。结果表明:加入2份硫化活性剂ZH-73,混炼胶的门尼焦烧时间略缩短,t90延长,流动性提高,加工性能改善;硫化胶老化前后物理性能相当,60℃的损耗因子明显减小;成品轮胎耐久性能提高,滚动阻力系数降低。  相似文献

This paper describes the fabrication, modeling, and dynamic testing of laser powder bed fusion stainless steel walls with captured powder cores. The purpose of the study is to determine the increased structural damping, or energy dissipation, and mode shape modification caused by the inclusion of the unmelted powder core within the solid walls. It is shown experimentally that the damping increases with larger powder core width and that the damping addition is mode dependent. Damping increases over the solid wall values by factors of 2.9–225 are reported depending on the mode number and core width. It is also seen that the mode shapes are distorted relative to the solid wall results as the core width is increased and wall thickness is decreased. Comparisons with finite element models confirm this trend.  相似文献

考察了反应溶液中碱性添加剂{氨水(NH4OH)、氢氧化钠(NaOH)、碳酸钠(Na2CO3)、碳酸铵[(NH4)2CO3]和四甲基氢氧化铵(TMAOH)}及其浓度对钛硅分子筛(TS-1)催化丙烯环氧化反应性能的影响,并采用紫外拉曼光谱(UV-Raman)与气相色谱(GC)联用原位分析(Raman-GC)碱性添加剂的作用机理。结果表明:反应体系中添加碱性添加剂可有效改善TS-1催化丙烯环氧化反应的选择性。不同碱性添加剂对TS-1催化丙烯环氧化活性和稳定性影响不同,NaOH、Na2CO3和TMAOH的添加造成催化活性和稳定性降低。NH4OH或(NH4)2CO3作为添加剂改善环氧化反应选择性的同时提高了反应稳定性,其中以(NH4)2CO3效果最佳。添加(NH4)2CO3浓度为8.0×10-4mol/L时,TS-1催化丙烯环氧化在固定床反应器上连续运行336h时,X(H2O2)仍保持在90%以上。原位Raman-GC分析发现,反应体系中NH4OH和(NH4)2CO3添加可加快反应活性中间体Ti-OOH(η2)基团的生成,促进反应产物从活性中心快速扩散,从而提高丙烯环氧化反应选择性和稳定性。  相似文献

Fused filament fabrication (FFF) is a process where thermoplastic materials are heated to its melting point and then extruded, layer by layer, to create a three dimensional printed part. Printing occurs in a layered manner, which leads to creation of voids (air gaps) in the 3D printed parts. These voids act as centers for crack initiation, propagation and therefore resulting bulk mechanical properties are lower. This paper focuses on microstructural characterization and analysis of fused filament fabricated tensile test coupons made from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene polymer, at various design conditions. Comparable tensile modulus with injection molded specimens was obtained for FFF design condition that is, slice height (0.1778 mm), raster width (0.4064 mm), raster to raster air gap (−0.0015 mm), contour to raster air gap (−0.0508 mm) and raster angle (0°). Scanning electron microscope studies provided an understanding as to why FFF processed specimens yielded lower failure strain and an insight into the presence of intralayer voids in specimens having lower tensile modulus. The study confirmed that though bulk mechanicals were affected by the combined effect of inter, intra and interfacial voids, intravoids had a predominant influence.  相似文献

Recently, commodity plastics have been shown to be a promising additive to improve the fuel properties of biodiesel, which offers a promising solution to the plastic pandemic. As many environmental and societal issues arise from plastic pollution, repurposing technologies are paramount in order to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). A potentially cost-effective approach can be achieved by using waste plastics as biodiesel additives – resonating to the expression ‘to kill two birds with one stone’. However, given the novelty of such investigation, current optimization studies show varying results on the ideal plastic-to-biodiesel ratio as well as the reaction parameters. The difficulty in determining the exact optimum values is due to the many variations of biodiesel properties and the complex behaviour of plastic polymers, which are seldom discussed in review papers. Hence, to address the literature gap, this paper offers the necessary fundamentals of biodiesel and plastic dissolution; facilitating future researches to advance the application of plastics as viable biodiesel additives. Accordingly, the topics covered include the fuel and solvent properties of biodiesel related to its' composition, as well as the polymer dissolution phenomena. Finally, as the focal aim of the paper, a synopsis on the recent advancement of plastic-added biodiesel is presented; in particular, those that are related to the blend characteristics, fuel properties, combustion quality, and environmental impact.  相似文献

Hydrogen fuel offers a cleaner fuel alternative to fossil fuel due to more efficient burning as well as reduces the environmental and health issues brought by fossil fuel usage. In engine application, regardless of either pure hydrogen or in combination with air or/and other biofuel, all the moving parts are exposed to friction and wear, and lubricant is used to minimize friction and wear for optimum operation. Thus, in this study, the use of microalgae oil as an alternative biolubricant is evaluated from the physicochemical and tribological aspects. It is found that modified microalgae oil (MMO) has demonstrated great anti-friction and anti-wear potential, particularly the 10% modified microalgae oil blend (MMO-10). The coefficient of friction is reduced (up to 10.1%) and significant reductions of wear loss and surface roughness are obtained in comparison to pure poly-alpha-olefin. Lubricant's heat dissipation is also enhanced with MMO addition, demonstrating great prospect for MMO for hydrogen-powered engine utilization.  相似文献

面向激光增材制造钛合金表面的光整加工需求,设计出一种多磁极耦合旋转磁场光整加工装置来研究光整加工特性。基于ANSYS Maxwell仿真软件分析了光整加工装置的磁场强度分布。搭建了实验光整平台,分析了主轴转速、C轴转速和加工间隙对表面质量的影响。结果表明,在主轴转速500 r/min、C轴转速160 r/min和加工间隙0.7 mm的加工条件下,表面粗糙度Ra由5.991 μm下降至0793 μm。扫描电子显微镜(SEM)观测表明,光整后的钛合金表面沉积层消失,表面质量得到显著改善。  相似文献
